Many people wonder if online dating really works.
Sure, you see great stories and testimonials when you visit online dating sites,
but are they real or merely a way of advertising the services?
In truth, for many people, online dating does work.
The Dog Liked Him ... and I Liked Him!
In August, 2001, I was a 59 year old widow.
A friend was showing me a guy she was going to date from JDate.
As we were scrolling down the page I saw a guy who looked like a panda bear!
I don't like bearded men at all, but this guy looked nice and sweet
and I had been dating a couple of very short and very nerdy guys,
so I stopped the page and read his bio - we had a lot in common and he said he was 6 ft tall and 67 years old.
So I contacted him by e-mail, but he didn't reply right away.
Three days later I sent another email - and he was so contrite
for not answering the first one that we started off on the right foot!
Five days later we met for lunch in my town - he lived about 30 minutes away.
Well, as usual, guys lie, and he was about 5'9" and turned out to be 10 years older!!!!
But a wonderful, smart, sweet and funny man.
So what did I do?
I invited him to my home to meet the final arbiter, my dog.
The dog liked him ... and I liked him.
We had dinner with his stepdaughter that night (she is older than I!)
and met his autistic grandson 2 days later.
He wanted to make sure I could accept the whole package of him.
And we have been together ever since, married 5 years and having a great life.
I advise all older women to find a great man online.
Understand that, just as you lie about your weight, men lie about their age and height.
But look beyond that. Look for a wonderful man. And you will find him.
Just remember: WIDOWERS ARE HOUSEBROKEN AND GRATEFUL.
